We welcome guests who are interested and desire to explore who we are and what we do, and why we do it. After coming as a guest, we invite some people to explore if God is calling them to this life, and mission. We have several on and off ramps as one explores our community and life in an order. The first stage is that of Explorer, seeking what God is saying to them about their own future and contribution. Our pathway is a) Guest, b) Explorer (6 months), c) Practitioner (1 year), d) Novitiate (two years) and Sojourner. After the first four years Sojourners have a season of intentional reflection and restoration towards making an additional seven year commitment to the order.
The purpose of each stage:
Guest: Initial exposure and dialogue towards interest and sensing God’s nudging.
Explorer: 6 months with our community where a person explores our mission, methods, ethos, and if God is calling them to something new, with us or another ministry.
Practitioner: A one year commitment after an internship where the person explores deeper, seeks God’s nudging deeper, but is not a full participant in what we do. They serve as equala. Part of this is that holistic and natural time it takes to submerge incarnationally, which can now be exercised. The apprentice is sensing an initial calling towards following Jesus in this manner. There are times when a Practitioner will mentor Explorers.
Novitiate: This is the final two year period before longer commitments, where the call is affirmed through manifested contribution and confirmation of call. This season is where the person moves from participant to innovator, adaptor and mentors Explorers and Practitioners.
Sojourner: Those called to this order, this life and mission. Sojourners are the servant leaders who are also the guardians of the DNA of Communitas.
