Lent - Shared Practice

The burning desire of CRM’s Intercession Team is that we as an organization would become a praying community, a mission force that is fueled by intimacy with God and dynamic intercessory prayer.

Lent Devotional

The shared practice we are engaging in during the season of Lent is a perfect prompt to see this vision move toward reality—together. May I encourage you during this season to consider this shared experience as a call to a deeper level of prayer—individually, in community, corporately? Take time to meet with other staff—to reflect on the Lent devotionals—to pray for one another. I expect transformation to happen as a result!

I recently read a Lent reflection that I would like to share with you, written by Joseph Cardinal Bernardin. I pray that the Holy Spirit quickens it to your hearts…

Our participation in the paschal mystery—in the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus—brings a certain freedom: The freedom to let go, to surrender ourselves to the living God, to place ourselves completely in His hands, knowing that He will ultimately win out! The more we cling to ourselves and others, the more we try to control our destiny—the more we lose the true sense of our lives, the more we are impacted by the futility of it all.  It’s precisely in letting go, in entering into complete union with the Lord, in letting Him take over, that we discover our true selves. It’s in the act of abandonment that we experience redemption, that we find life, peace and joy in the midst of physical emotional and spiritual suffering.

May you enter this shared practice with the confidence the prophet expressed in Isaiah 56:7—These will I bring to My holy mountain and give them joy in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.

So be it.
