Church Leadership Resources

Focused Living Retreat and
Resource Kit

Through our partnership with ChurchSmart Resources, we have published a set of resources designed to bring the Focused Living process to leaders in the local church.

The Retreat

Designed as a weekend experience that sets the stage for follow-up coaching and mentoring, participants are able to discover and clarify God’s unique shaping in their past and His calling on their future.  They will complete the first draft of a Personal Calling Statement.

  • When ordering resources:  Order one Retreat Workbook for each participant and one Retreat Resource CD for the retreat leader.
  • Pastors in the networks will be trained to use the Focused Living Retreat to mobilize leaders in their churches.

The Focused Living Resource Kit

A comprehensive resource that not only includes all the resources needed to lead the Focused Living Retreat, the Toolkit includes in-depth workbooks on the Time-Line; Personal Calling; and Mentoring–ideal for intensive mentoring or small group relationships.  A full set of instructive tapes completes the Toolkit.

Focusing the Church
Phase Two of the reFocusing Network
By the National reFocusing Team of Church Resource Ministries

“Focusing the Church” is the companion to “Focusing Your Ministry” and is designed specifically for the local church. A step-by-step guide for the pastor, board, and guiding coalition, it provides the pathway to refocus your church. The reFocusing process developed by Church Resource Ministries has one purpose: to move the local church from maintenance to mission.

A missional church is actively engaged in its community, touching lives in a redemptive way. It is a church “on mission” in its own local context. This kind of church has a clear and distinctive sense of itself: a) who God has called it to be; b) who the church is called to serve; c) the kind of impact it is to have on the surrounding community; d) the values that will dictate how it behaves; e) the structures that will most effectively support its mission; and f) the few major initiatives to begin meeting real needs of those nearby in God-honoring ways.

Focusing the Church:

• Provides a context for your church to discover the answers to each of these questions.
• Offers a proven method to garner broad congregational support to become a behaviorally missional church.
• Supports your pastor as the champion of the process.
• Facilitates the emergence of lay leadership, and lay-led teams.
• Develops the character of the congregation to become a generous, others-focused, risk-taking people.
• Helps the church navigate around the pitfalls common to those who have preceded yours on the journey from maintenance to mission.
