Mission and Values

OUR MISSION: We are called to resource team leaders in creating and nurturing grace-filled, safe communities for holistic staff development and care, as well as assisting staff in the areas of spiritual formation, ongoing transformational development, and personal care as needed.

SD&C TEAM VALUES

Our primary value as a team and for our ministry is a vital relationship with God, and thus we value the spiritual formation of each member. (Eph 4:13)

Recognizing that each person’s relationship to God is worked out horizontally, we value safety, openness, and vulnerability. (Eph 4:15)

We value caring community: each person caring for him or herself appropriately; each person giving and receiving care from his or her CRM team and national community appropriately. (1 Cor 13)

We value growth and a developmental perspective impacting all facets of life: spiritually, life stages, leadership, team relationships, and professional growth, from recruitment to retirement. (Luke 2:52)

Recognizing that our staff work in a variety of cultural contexts, we seek to care for and help them live and minister in a healthy but culturally sensitive manner. (Matt 28:18-20; Acts 1:8)

We value “sent presence”: our physical presence with our missionaries – our emotional presence to them – our prayerful presence for them; and ourselves as resources. (John 1:14)

We value lightness and joy: because Jesus carries our burden, we can be playful, and enjoy one other and God. (Psalm 16:11)

We value a community where healing, personal growth and asking for help are essential elements of Christian maturity. (James 5:13-16)

We value an openness to truth: the recognition that God is calling me to grow and to take our development into Christ-likeness seriously. (Psalms 51:6)

WHAT KIND OF CARE ARE YOU HOPING TO PROVIDE?

The SDCTeam has envisioned a comprehensive plan that takes into consideration the developmental and nurture needs of staff from the time you join the CRM family throughout your life with us. The SDCT Ministry Model depicts the most critical components of care we seek to provide.

We help every incoming staff member, starting from the first day of New Staff Orientation, to construct their own four support systems—Personal, Financial, Intercessory, and Mentors. Working through the following set of questions will help you—on your own, evaluate the strength of your four support systems to determine where you might need some “retro-fitting” for additional stability.

It costs $250-300,000 to put one missionary family on the field. Proper care and development not only ensures their well being but is good stewardship of God’s entrusted resources.
